Wanda Diamond League 2023 full schedule and calendar

SHENZHEN, China (26 March, 2023) – The world’s premier one-day athletics series, the Wanda Diamond League, will hold its first-ever meeting in Shenzhen on September 2, 2023. The Bao’an Stadium, which previously hosted football at the 2011 Summer Universiade, will serve as the venue for the exclusive event, which is the only Wanda Diamond League meeting to take place in China this year, as confirmed by the meeting organizers.

The state-of-the-art stadium has a seating capacity of 40,000, making it an ideal location for the event. The Shanghai meeting, originally scheduled for July 29, was canceled due to the pandemic, and the modernization of the city’s two major stadiums, planned for the event, has been delayed, making them unfit to host the Wanda Diamond League.

Athletes from around the world will compete for points at the 13 series meetings, vying for a chance to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene on September 16-17. The Shenzhen meeting will be the 11th Wanda Diamond League meeting held in China, with Shanghai being a fixture in the series’ calendar from 2010 to 2019.

This week, the organizers confirmed that the Shenzhen meeting will take place on September 2 instead of the previously announced date of August 3, giving athletes more time to prepare and plan adequetly for the event.

The 2023 Wanda Diamond League series begins with the Doha Meet in Qatar on May 5.
