DESENZANO DEL GARDA, Italy, May 1 – Taliyah Brooks of the USA and Karel Tilga of Estonia emerged victorious at the GardaStars by 36th Multistars – a World Athletics Combined Events Tour Gold meeting held on Sunday. The competition, which took place in Desenzano del Garda, saw Tilga set a meeting record with 8482 points to win the decathlon, while Brooks improved her personal best with a 6330pt score to take the heptathlon.

Brooks, who had set a personal best of 6252pts in 2021 in Texas, improved on her score by tallying 6330pts. She beat Britain’s Commonwealth bronze medallist Jade O’Dowda, who recorded 6178pts, while Chari Hawkins of the USA finished third with 6036pts.
Meanwhile, Tilga, who was the 2021 NCAA outdoor and indoor champion and the U20 European Junior Championships Decathlon bronze medalist in 2017, won the men’s decathlon with a meeting record score of 8482pts. He beat Andrei Krauchanka’s old meeting record of 8390pts.
Sweden’s Fredrik Samuelsson finished second with a total of 8070pts, while USA’s Devon Williams took third place with a mark of 7956pts.
