Sports enthusiasts who are unable to attend the event in person need not fret, as all the action will be available for live streaming on USATF.tv from Grand Rapids.
Defending men’s champion Leonard Korir is set to make a formidable return to defend his title, adding an extra layer of excitement to this year’s competition. Meanwhile, eyes are on Keira D’Amato, last year’s women’s runner-up, as she aims to outshine her rivals and secure victory in Michigan. The women’s race promises to be a fierce battle, with Keira D’Amato leading the charge. D’Amato, a standout marathon runner, clinched the silver medal in the 2022 USATF 25 km Championships, falling just short of Aliphine Tuliamuk.
However, D’Amato will face stiff competition from the likes of Nell Rojas, Betsy Saina, Dakotah Lindwurm, Jessa Hanson, and Molly Grabill, all formidable contenders eager to claim victory on Saturday morning.
On the men’s side, the returning champion Leonard Korir is in for an intense challenge. Jacob Thomson and Sam Chelanga, featured athletes of the USATF Running Circuit, will put Korir’s skills to the test. Thomson, fresh off his victory at the USATF Half Marathon Championships, where he edged out Korir by a mere second, will be gunning for another title.
Chelanga, a former victor at the 2018 USATF 25 km Championship and third-place finisher in 2021, seeks to grace the podium once again this year.
Among the other notable contenders vying for a coveted spot on the men’s podium are Brendan Gregg, who finished 16th at the 2023 Lilac Bloomsday Run, two-time USATF 25 km champion Fernando Cabada, Matthew Llano, and Joel Reichow.
