Shericka Jackson of Jamaica in action in the 100m at the Doha DL

MAY 28 — Shericka Jackson delivered an outstanding performance in the women’s 200 meters at the 2023 Rabat Diamond League meeting on Sunday (28), setting a new meeting record with a time of 21.98 seconds for her quickest of the campaign.

Although Jackson didn’t have the fastest start, she displayed exceptional speed and control in the second half of the race, ultimately securing the victory and surpassing her previous season best of 22.25 seconds, which she achieved at the JAAA All-Comers 2023 Series meeting in Kingston on 20 May. – Read more: World champion Shericka Jackson runs 22.25 in 200m season debut

The Jamaican, who won the world title at Oregon22 last summer, posted a time that is the second-fastest of the season, trailing only St. Lucian sprinter Julien Alfred’s world-leading performance of 21.91 seconds, clocked while representing the University of Texas.

Anthonique Strachan, a training partner from the MVP Track Club in The Bahamas, finished an impressive second place, setting a personal best time of 22.15 seconds. Prior to her exceptional performance on Sunday, Strachan’s lifetime best stood at 22.32 seconds, established a decade ago in Freeport when she won the sprint double at the 2012 World Junior Championships.

Tamari Davis of the USA also achieved a personal best time, clocking 22.30 seconds to secure third place. Kayla White, also representing the USA, finished fourth with a time of 22.52 seconds.
