DULUTH, MN (June 19) – Lauren Hagans and Elisha Barno finished as the top earners in prize money at Grandma’s Marathon 2023, which took place in Duluth, Minnesota, on Saturday. The event served as a Boston Marathon and Olympic Trials qualifying race, with several women achieving the 2024 USA Olympic Team Trials Marathon qualifying standard.
Who is the top earner at the Grandma’s Marathon 2023?
In her marathon debut, Lauren Hagans claimed the highest prize money at the Grandma’s Marathon 2023, totaling USD $20,000. The 36-year-old, representing the Hoka Northern Arizona Elite group, delivered an exceptional performance, clocking a remarkable time of 2:25:56 to win the title with a well-judged race strategy.
Her impressive debut time ranks as the fourth-fastest debut in USA history.

Two other female runners, Dakotah Lindwurm and Gabriella Rooker, also received the time incentive bonus on top of their final prize money. Lindwurm, the consecutive champion in 2021 and 2022, secured $17,500 for her second-place finish this year, while Rooker, who achieved a personal best with a time of 2:27:38, collected a total of $15,000.
Canada’s Ashley Paulson proved to be a notable prize money earner, despite finishing 33rd overall in the women’s race. Paulson, 41, received $1,500 as she ranked second among finishers in the 40+ division.
Leading the 40+ category was Dot McMahan, 46, who finished in 13th place with an impressive time of 2:35:22. She earned $2,500 for being the top finisher in her division and an additional $700 and $500 in incentives.
