2023 William A. Irvin 5K results and recap on June 16, 2023

DULUTH, MN (June 16) – Mason Shea and Flannery Cerbin-Bohach emerged as the champions of the 2023 William A. Irvin 5K held in Duluth, MN, on the eve of the 2023 Grandma’s Marathon on Friday evening. Here are the leading results for the 2023 William A. Irvin 5K from both the men’s and women’s races.

Mason Shea takes second William A. Irvin 5K title

Shea, a previous winner of the event in 2021 at the age of 19, and who finished second last year in the fifth-fastest time ever recorded in the race (14:54), claimed his second William A. Irvin 5K victory today. The 21-year-old comfortably defeated the competition, crossing the finish line with a time of 15 minutes and 40 seconds, beating the second-place finisher by an impressive 39 seconds. Behind the champion, Henrik Gilbertson secured the runner-up spot with a time of 16:19, closely followed by Thomas Knepshield, who finished third with a time of 16:20. The top five positions were completed by Tyler Morey (16:27) in fourth place and Steve Booker (16:30) in fifth.

Ben Haberman, who finished third in last year’s event and holds the third-fastest time ever recorded in the men’s William A. Irvin 5K (15:14), placed ninth this year with a time of 17:40. (ALL-TIME WOMEN’S WINNERS)

Flannery Cerbin-Bohach Wins William A. Irvin 5K

On the women’s side, Flannery Cerbin-Bohach showcased her exceptional speed, recording the 15th-fastest time achieved by a woman in the William A. Irvin 5K. She clinched victory in her category with a solid time of 18:00. Among all the participants, she secured a remarkable 13th place overall, considering both men’s and women’s finishers.

Cerbin-Bohach, 36, dominated the race, finishing a commanding 56 seconds ahead of Suzie McEwen, who took second place with a time of 18:56. Eva Scott completed the podium, collecting third place with a finishing time of 19:01.
