Abby Steiner wins 200m with 22.19 to win the 200m at 2023 NYC Grand Prix. Check out the race splits, reaction times and final results on Saturday (24).

US champion Abby Steiner secured dominant victory in the women’s 200m at the 2023 NYC Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting, held at the Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island on Saturday, June 24.

Steiner, who finished 5th at the 2022 World Championships in Oregon, clocked a season-best time of 22.19 seconds (+1.2 m/s) to run away from the rest of the field and improved on her previous 2023 best of 22.23 seconds.

The 23-year-old came off the corner behind compatriot Jenna Prandini but powered away down the straightaway to finish with a final 100m spit of 10.71 seconds, leaving her competitors behind and securing a vital victory in her preparations for the US championships in two weeks’ time.

Prandini, who was leading at the 100m mark with an opening 100m split of 11.39secs, was able to hold on to her position and finished third with a time of 22.51 seconds.

Anavia Battle and Candace Hill took fourth and fifth places, respectively, with times of 22.71 and 22.73 seconds. Dezerea Bryant and Anglerne Annelus rounded out the field, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.
