Results of the Women’s 5km Road Race at the ASICS Österreichischer Frauenlauf 2023 – in Wien, Austria on Sunday, 4. Kenyan runners swept the podium spots on the day with Carina Reich being the top finisher for the home country in sixth place.
Chepnegeno won the Elite title in a time of 14:56.65 after controlling the contest from the first kilometer when she clocked 2:54 to lead the field. She maintained her tempo after 3K to keep the advantage over her compatriots before pulling away to the take the win.
Purity Kajuju Gitonga, also of Kenya, finished in second place 14:58.45 after moving past countrywoman Chepkurui Gladys, who was third in a time of 15:04.80. – Read more: Live Updates: 2023 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships
Rounding out the top five were Nadia Battocletti of Italy with a time of 15:23.70 in fourth place and Sarah Lahti of Sweden, at 15:42.25.
Austria’s Carina Reich finished in sixth place with a time of 15:53.
