NEW YORK (June) — Athing Mu, the reigning Olympic and world champion in the 800m, is gearing up for her highly anticipated 2023 season debut at the USATF NYC Grand Prix. Organizers of the event made the exciting announcement today (210, revealing that the prestigious competition will be held at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island in New York City on Saturday, June 24.

Hailing from Trenton, New Jersey, Mu’s remarkable talents propelled her to the forefront of the international track and field scene in 2021. She secured the NCAA title in the 400m and went on to claim gold medals in both the 800m and 4x400m relay at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Mu’s winning streak continued as she triumphed in the 800m at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Now, in New York, Mu is poised to make her highly anticipated debut in the 800m for the 2023 season.
However, the road to victory won’t be easy, as Mu will face formidable competition from fellow New Jersey native Ajee’ Wilson, the 2022 world indoor 800m champion, and Heather Maclean, the 2022 USA indoor 1500m champion, both of whom are set to challenge her in the 800m event.
