One of the highlighted events at the meeting is the women’s Hammer Throw, which includes USA’s Alyssa Wilson. Wilson will aim to bounce back from a disappointing ninth-place finish in Bydgoszcz in her most recent outing a week ago.
Wilson enters the meeting with a season-best mark of 71.84 meters and has recorded three throws over 70 meters this season. However, in Bydgoszcz, the 2018 World Junior Championships silver medalist only managed an effort of 67.76m.
Also competing in the event is Slovakia’s Martina Hrašnová, the 2019 World Championships bronze medalist, who will be participating in her sixth event of the season. China’s Jiangyan LI, with a season best of 71.84m, will also line up in the Hammer Throw event alongside Alyssa Wilson at the Mestský Stadion Sletište.
In total, nine women with personal bests exceeding 70 meters will participate in today’s Hammer Throw event, with six already surpassing that mark this season.
The women’s Shot Put field will feature Hungary’s Anita Márton, the 2018 World Indoor champion, and two-time European Indoor champion. She’s also won Olympic and world outdoor championships medals.
