NEW YORK CITY, USA – The women’s 100m hurdles event at the 2023 USATF NYC Grand Prix – World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series meeting – will field an impressive lineup of world-class athletes. Former world record holder Kendra Harrison, alongside Olympic bronze medalist Megan Tapper, Alaysha Johnson, and Tonea Marshall from the United States, will take center stage on Saturday, 24 June.

The start list underwent a few adjustments this week, adding Jamaica’s 2015 world champion Danielle Williams to the mix.

However, Taliyah Brooks from the USA confirmed with World-Track that she will be participating in the Trackwired Arkansas Grand Prix in Fayetteville, AR on Friday (23), instead of the event at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island in New York City.

Kendra Harrison – favorite to win at USATF NYC Grand Prix?

Kendra Harrison enters this race as the second-fastest athlete in the world this season, having recorded an impressive time of 12.35 seconds. Her outstanding performances in Atlanta and Nashville, where she clocked 12.44 seconds and 12.49 seconds, respectively, further demonstrate her exceptional form.

Alaysha Johnson, another talented American athlete, possesses the fifth-fastest time worldwide this season, with an impressive record of 12.41 seconds. Johnson is expected to provide tough competition for Harrison, alongside her compatriot Tonea Marshall, whose season’s best time stands at 12.47 seconds.

Adding to the excitement, Olympic champion Megan Tapper from Jamaica will also feature in the field, showcasing her extraordinary skills. Danielle Williams, Tapper’s fellow Jamaican and the 2015 world champion, will also be among the competitors vying for a podium spot.

The field is further enriched by the presence of Anna Cockrell, the 2016 World U20 champion, and Olympic finalist, Gabbi Cunningham from the United States, who are both poised to mark their own marks in the event.
