The following are the top USA women’s and men’s finishers in the B.A.A. 10K presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital, which took place today, Sunday, June 25th. Emily Sisson and Diego Estrada were the leading local athletes in the elite races.

Emily Sisson completed the women’s race in a time of 31:35, securing the victory and setting a new personal best, surpassing her previous time of 31:47 in 2016. The U.S. record holder for the marathon and half-marathon finished fourth overall, behind Kenya’s Hellen Obiri, who emerged as the race winner.

“I’m happy with [the result]. It was a tough day out there, it was pretty hot and humid,” said Sisson. “I was hoping just to compete and top three was my goal, and I just missed that.”

She added: “I was leading the chase pack at two or three miles, then someone passed me, and the last mile or two I was battling for third. I lost that battle, but it was a good battle.”

Sisson entered the race week targeting Shalane Flanagan’s American record but knew that wasn’t possible, given the hot conditions

“We were originally hoping to run a fast race today, but then as we got closer and saw the weather, we’re like ‘let’s just race. It’s a good field and let’s see how I can test myself against them,” she added.

Additionally, Emily Durgin, the winner of 2023 BOLDERBoulder 10K in May, achieved a time of 31:57, securing second place among the top U.S. finishers today. Annie Frisbie crossed the finish line as the third-best American in Boston, clocking at 32:47.

In the men’s division, Diego Estrada improved his personal best to 28:19, claiming the top spot among the U.S. finishers and finishing fourth overall. – Read more: B.A.A. 10K 2023 Results: Hellen Obiri and Gabriel Geay win the titles

In other notable performances, Marcelo Rocha finished with a time of 29:33, Reid Buchanan with 29:40, and Leonard Korir with 29:45, completing the lineup of the top five American finishers.

More than $200,000 was raised through this year’s B.A.A. 10K, and more than $1.3 million has been raised since 2016.
