The Trail Short results on Day 2 at the 2023 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Innsbruck-Stubai on Thursday, 7 June. On this day, Norway’s Stian Angermund and France’s Clementine Geoffray won the gold medals in the 45km trail short events, as Europeans swept the podium places.
On the men’s side, Angermund battled the difficult course to end with a time of 4:19:00, beat Great Britain’s Thomas Roach, who was more than two-minutes behind at 4:21:18, while Italy’s Luca Del Pedro was third at 4:22:04.
The top American finisher in the men’s Trail Short event was Garrett Corcoran, who ended 14th overall with a time of 4:35:34. In the women’s contest, France’s Clementine Geoffray ended with a winning time of 4:53:12 to outperform a pair of Swiss competitors, as Judith Wyder stopped the clock at 4:55:13 for second place and her teammate Theresa Leboeuf ended third at 5:09:29.
Two U.S. competitors finished in the top 10, with Jennifer Lichter hitting the end at 5:11:55 for fourth place and Emkay Sullivan posting 5:19:43 for ninth place.
