PHILADELPHIA (June 16) – The 2023 New Balance Nationals Outdoor, being held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, experienced a weather delay on Friday due to inclement weather. The event, which started as scheduled in the morning session, was interrupted during the Middle School Boys 2 Mile races.
Officials promptly cleared the athletes and spectators from the track and stands following lightning warnings. Initially, a 30-minute delay was announced shortly before 10:00 a.m., but the conditions worsened with heavy rain, leading the organizers to declare that the next update would be provided at 1:30 p.m.
Although the weather has slightly improved, with lighter rain and clear views, officials will continue to assess the situation before making any further announcements.
