DULUTH, MN (June 19) – Kenya’s Elisha Barno finished as the highest men’s earner in prize money at Grandma’s Marathon 2023 after securing yet another title at the 46th edition in Duluth, Minnesota, on Saturday. The event also served as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon and Olympic Trials.
Barno, who now holds the record for the most men’s titles in Grandma’s Marathon history, clocked a solid time of 2:09:14, securing his fifth title overall. For his performance, the 37-year-old earned USD $12,500 in prize money. This included $10,000 for winning the men’s race and an additional $2,500 for surpassing the 2:10:00 mark.

Other notable prize money earners at Grandma’s Marathon 2023 include Kenyan athletes Dominic Ondoro, who collected $9,500 overall, and Panuel Mkungo, who earned $7,000. Nathan Martin received $6,000, and James Ngandu of Kenya earned $5,500.
In the 40+ division, Jesse Davis, 41, secured $1,500 in masters prize money for his performance of 2:20:56, which earned him second place. He was 45th overall. The division’s top finisher, Alexander Taylor, 43, crossed the line in 24th place overall with a time of 2:17:32, earning $2,500 and an additional $400 for breaking the 2:18:00 mark.
