PARIS (June 9) – The 2023 Meeting de Paris – Wanda Diamond League is set to showcase a thrilling women’s 200-meter event on Friday, featuring a star-studded lineup vying for the top spot. Anticipation is high for an exciting and fast-paced race and the fans at the Stade Charléty can’t wait to see the outcome.
Leading the field are Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith, the world bronze medalist, and USA’s Gabby Thomas, the Olympic bronze medalist. Joining them are Marie-Josée Ta Lou from Ivory Coast and American champion Abby Steiner. – Read more: Paris Diamond League women’s 400m startlist; Paulino vs McLauhglin-Levrone vs Naser
The lineup comprises five women who have personal bests faster than 22 seconds, although none of them have surpassed that mark this season. The fastest athlete in the field in 2023 heading into Paris is Thomas, with a season best of 22.21 seconds, and is closely followed by Steiner at 22.23 seconds.
However, both Thomas and Steiner have encountered recent struggles, opening the door for another athlete to seize the spotlight.

Asher-Smith, who claimed bronze at Oregon22 behind Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce last summer, will be making her second appearance in the event this season. She posted a wind-aided time of 22.61 seconds in Savona, Italy, on May 24 and aims to improve upon that performance as she continues her preparations for the world championships in August.
Meanwhile, the experienced Ta Lou, who has a season best of 22.31 seconds, has been in exceptional form in the 100 meters this year and from all indications, the 34-year-old 2017 double world silver medalist is finding her best again after a change in her coaching setup.
Expect her to challenge the leading contenders and possibly come close to her personal best of 22.08 seconds.
In the meantime, there are five Americans among the competitors in the women’s 200 meters at the 2023 Meeting de Paris – Wanda Diamond League.
Alongside Thomas and Steiner, Jenna Prandini, Tamara Claske, and Kayla White, who defeated Sha’Carri Richardson earlier this season, will also showcase their talents.
