Brett Robinson of Australia lived up to his billing as the race favorite at the 2023 Asics Half Marathon in Gold Coast, Australia, on Saturday (1), capturing the men’s title with an impressive time of 1:02:16. The following are the results and race report.

Ultimately, the Australian athlete managed to pull away and secure the victory, crossing the finish line just three seconds ahead of Mogi, who completed the race in a commendable time of 1:02:20.

“To be honest at 15km I was struggling to hold on, I didn’t really feel that good,” said Robinson. “I got a second wind in the last 10 minutes, but it was good and he [Mogi] was very strong.”

Mogi also reflected on his performance, saying, “I am very happy, I just wanted to do my best.

“I love to run on the Gold Coast. The conditions were very good, and crowd was yelling Mogi, Mogi.”

New Zealand’s Cameron Avery also delivered an outstanding performance, breaking the 63-minute barrier and claiming the third-place position with a personal best of 1:02:50.

Avery significantly improved upon his lifetime best of 1:05:24, which he achieved during the 2022 Asics Half Marathon in Gold Coast, where he finished in 11th place.

Completing the top five finishers was Jin Yuasa of Japan, who clocked an impressive time of 1:03:19, shaving off an impressive 38 seconds from his personal best to secure fourth place.

Ryan Gregson of Australia, the 1500m Olympic finalist in Rio in 2016, also showcased his skills by setting a personal best of 1:03:40, securing the fifth-place position in the race.
