The talented sprinter from St. Lucia has recorded an impressive season-best time of 10.83 seconds, ranking her fourth in the world this year. She has also registered two fast, albeit slightly wind-aided, times of 10.72w.

With a personal best of 10.81 seconds achieved in 2021, the 22-year-old has clocked seven sub-11 second times in the 100m event in 2023.

Competing against Alfred in heat one are Akilah Lewis from Trinidad and Tobago and Cecilia Tamayo from Mexico, both of whom pose as strong contenders for a place in the final.

Heat two features Yanique Dayle from Jamaica, who represented Ohio State in the collegiate season. Dayle holds the fastest time of 11.05 seconds among the competitors in this heat. Her main challengers are Anthaya Charlton from the Bahamas and Yarima García from Cuba.

In the third and final semi-final heat, Leah Bertrand from Trinidad and Tobago and Yunisleidy García from Cuba, both posting times of 11.08 seconds this year, aim to solidify their spots in the final.

The current CAC Games women’s 100m record stands at 11.14 seconds, set by Bahamian athlete Chandra Sturrup in 1998. Julien Alfred is a strong favorite to surpass this record and might even do so in the semi-finals.
