With the World Track and Field Championships in Budapest just around the corner, numerous world-class athletes have gathered in Switzerland to continue their preparations. Some athletes are also aiming to meet the entry standard for the championships during this event.

One of the marquee competitors scheduled to appear today is Jamaica’s esteemed sprinter, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. The sprint legend will be making her season debut in the 100 meters. Fraser-Pryce previously participated in the 200m at the Jamaica Track and Field Championships earlier this month, but she is now eager to assess her fitness in the shorter sprint event.

Alongside Fraser-Pryce, other Jamaican athletes will grace the meeting. Rohan Watson, the newly crowned Jamaican champion, who achieved a personal best of 9.91 seconds while securing the national title, will compete in the men’s 100m. He will face off against USA’s Pjai Austin and fellow Jamaican Julian Forte.
In the women’s 100m hurdles, Danielle Williams, the 2015 world champion, will clash with USA’s Tonea Marshall. In the men’s 110m hurdles, French star Sasha Zhoya, the 2021 World U20 champion and recently crowned European U23 gold medalist, will face a formidable field.
In other events, the men’s 1500m will feature a thrilling battle between USA’s Sam Prakel and Casey Comber, Belgium’s Ruben Verheyden, and Ethiopia’s Melkeneh Azize.
