The start lists for the women’s long jump and triple jump events at the 2023 CAC Games in El Salvador on Monday will showcase several top-name athletes, including Yulimar Rojas, Tyra Gittens, Leyanis Pérez, and Thea LaFond.

Leading the women’s triple jump field is Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela, who aims to secure her first CAC Games title to add to her collection of Pan American Games and three World Championships Outdoor titles. – Read more: CAC Games 20km Race Walk 2023 Results; wins for Ortega, Doctor

Rojas already achieved a very strong jump of 14.96 meters in Madrid last month, which currently places her at the top of the world rankings for 2023. The 27-year-old athlete is determined to build on this momentum and strive for a performance over 15 meters this season.

Among the athletes poised to challenge Rojas for the gold medal at the 2023 CAC Games are the Cuban jumpers Leyanis Pérez, the fourth-place finisher at the world championships and Liadagmis Povea, the fifth-place finisher at the Tokyo Olympics.

Both athletes closely trail the Venezuelan with respective marks of 14.87m and 14.83m in this season’s top list.

Another athlete worth paying close attention to is Thea Lafond of Dominica, who has been in impressive form. Lafond, an Olympic and world finalist, has a season-best jump of 14.47m, although she achieved a wind-aided mark of 14.68 (+2.9) in May.

Meanwhile, in the women’s long jump event at the 2023 CAC Games, we will see the participation of Olympic finalist Tyra Gittens from Trinidad and Tobago. The 25-year-old athlete will utilize this meet as part of her preparations for the upcoming World Championships in Budapest, scheduled for August.
