A strong USA contingent will bow into action at the 2023 Pan American U20 Championships this week, with the likes of Sophia Gorriaran, and Shawnti Jackson among the athletes for the global powerhouse. The 2023 Pan American U20 Championships is taking place at Jose A. Figueroa Freire Stadium in Puerto Rico from 4-6 Aug 4.
Shawnti Jackson, the World U20 bronze medalist in the 100m in 2022, will compete in the women’s 200m and is expected to be among the top contenders for the gold medal. – Read more: Final Medals Table: NACAC U18 and U23 Championships (July 23)

Jackson heads into the championships with a personal best time of 22.48 seconds for the 200m, which is ranked second among U20 women this season in the event behind Mia Brahe-Pedersen (USA). – Follow live results
Fellow American, Elise Cooper will also contest the event in Puerto Rico, and she is No. 6 this season. Lacarthea Cooper from The Bahamas is also on the start list.
Meanwhile, Sophia Gorriaran will look to close out her busy campaign with a gold medal in the women’s 800m event, with Allison Ince also entered in the race.
