ZURICH — The iconic Zurich train station is gearing up to host some of the world’s top female pole vaulters at the 2023 Zurich Diamond League on Wednesday evening (30). As the clock strikes 17:30 local time, the station will transform into a vibrant athletic arena, with the spotlight on the women of the pole vaulting world.

Leading the charge are Australia’s Nina Kennedy and USA’s Katie Moon. The pair recently made global headlines in Budapest, choosing to share the gold medal in the World Athletics Championships competition.

European champion Wilma Murto of Finland is set to join the fray. Murto, who comes into this Wanda Diamond League meeting in Zurich with a season and personal best of 4.80m, is aiming to surprise the more favored athletes this week.

The lineup also boasts the two-time World Indoor champion and three-time World Outdoor Championship silver medalist, Sandi Morris of the United States.

Morris missed out on a podium spot in Budapest and has a season-best of 4.71m, but is the only athlete in the field with a personal best of 5.00 meters.

The Zurich Wanda Diamond League 2023 meeting also includes European Athletics Championships bronze medalist Tina Sutej, who finished fourth at back-to-back world championships and was 5th at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.

The Zurich Diamond League provides athletes with another opportunity to collect valuable points as they target respective places at the 2023 Wanda Diamond League Final.
