MIAMI, FL (Sept. 27) — The World Athletics Council has awarded the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships to Belgrade, marking the city’s second World Athletics Series event in two years.
The championships are scheduled for March 30, 2024, and will take place in the Park of Friendship, next to the Danube River. The Park of Friendship was also the venue for the 2013 European Championships, reinforcing its suitability for the upcoming world event.
In other developments, the Council approved dates for future championships. The World Athletics U20 Championships will be held in Eugene, Oregon, USA, from August 4-9, 2026.
The World Athletics Road Running Championships are set for Copenhagen, Denmark, on September 19-20, 2026.
