Adidas XC Challenge 2023 Results; Leah Stephens wins women’s 5k

Leah Stephens clocked 16:54.8 to win the women's 5k at the Adidas XC Challenge 2023, while NC State men and Elon women won the team titles, respectively.

NC State and Elon secured the team title Adidas XC Challenge 2023 on Friday evening, while Leah Stephens, the Wolfpack freshman running unattached, and JJ Malach of NC State, were individual champions.

On the men’s side, host NC State scored a perfect 15 points to dominate the 6,000m competition after clinching the top six spots in the race.

JJ Malach paced the pack in the 6k, clocking 17:50.9 to win the title ahead of teammates Toby Gualter (17:53.2) and Dan McGoey (18:04.6).

On the women’s side, meanwhile, Elon scored 32 points to beat William & Mary (70), Richmond (81), Col. of Charleston (111), and Coastal Carolina (125).

Leah Stephens emerged as the champion today, posting a time of 16:54.8 to defeat fellow NC State unattached teammates Angelina Napoleon (17:14.0) and Jolena Quarzo (17:14.7).

Elon was led by Maggie Springer (17:31.7) and had four finishers in the top 11.
