SYDNEY, Australia — The 2023 Sydney Marathon, presented by ASICS and recognized as a World Athletics Elite Platinum Label road race, is shaping up to be the fastest marathon ever assembled on Australian soil. Scheduled for this Sunday (17), the event boasts a star-studded lineup featuring the likes of Gabriel Geay, Moses Kibet, Angela Tanui, and Judith Korir.

The 2023 Sydney Marathon is broadcasting live on Channel 10 for Australian viewers from 7:00 a.m. local time. Viewers outside of Australia can use a VPN to stream action, while a live streaming broadcast is on the race’s official Facebook page. Kenya’s 2022 World Championships silver medalist and Paris Marathon champion, Judith Korir, is set to make her Australian debut. She will be facing six other sub-2:22 women, including her compatriot Angela Tanui, who won the Amsterdam Marathon in 2021 with a time of 2:17:57.

On the men’s side, Tanzanian record-holder Gabriel Geay leads the pack with a personal best of 2:03:00. Moses Kibet, who won last year’s Sydney Marathon, will also be a strong contender. The field features a total of nine sub-2:06 men, promising an intensely competitive race.

Ahead of the 2023 Sydney Marathon

The 2023 Sydney Marathon is aiming to become a candidate race for the Abbott World Marathon Majors (AbbottWMM). The race is perhaps the largest marathon ever held in Australia. The race will feature a scenic course that takes in some of Sydney’s most spectacular and historic landmarks, including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
