arkansas men's cross country wins xc23 college and open pre nationals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (OCT. 14) – The No. 21 Arkansas men’s cross country team dominated the field at the XC23 College and Open Pre-Nationals at Panorama Farms on Saturday morning. Razorback sophomore Ben Shearer clinched the Men’s Blue Race 8k title, pacing three Arkansas finishers in the top five.

GREAT PACK RUNNING FROM ARKANSAS

Shearer crossed the finish line with a time of 22:55, closing strongly late to win by a clear three-second margin over his closest competitor. Teammates Kirami Yego and Patrick Kiprop were not far behind, clocking 23:04.2 and 23:11.5 to secure third and fifth places, respectively.

Senior Myles Richter completed the scoring for Arkansas, finishing 20th with a time of 23:40.

Tennessee’s Yaseen Abdalla was the runner-up, posting a time of 22:58.6, while Kansas’ Chandler Gibbens also made it into the top five, finishing fifth with a time of 23:09.6.

In the team standings, Arkansas amassed 35 points to secure the top spot. They were followed by No. 17 Tennessee with 89 points, No. 10 Virginia with 112, Montana State with 137, and Purdue rounding out the top five with 215 points.
