BYU women eased to victory at 2023 Utah XC Open

BYU women's cross country team eased to victory at the 2023 Utah XC Open. The Cougars ran without several top athletes and still had little trouble tallying a perfect score of 15 points.

Led by Raygan Peterson, a second-string BYU women’s cross country team cruised to victory at the 2023 Utah XC Open, held at Sunnyside Park in Salt Lake City, on Thursday (19). The Cougars, using the meet as another competitive training block for some of the runners, dominated the women’s 5k team score with 15 points.

Peterson led the way with a second place finish in a time of 18:34.5, while teammates Vanesa Alder at 18:43.7, Allie Warner (18:47.4), Grace Hutchison (18:52.4), and Elizabeth Dildine (19:04.7) completed the scorers.

Utah Valley finished second in the scoring with 59 points, while Utah State was third with a score of 61 points.

Meanwhile, Wyatt Evans of Utah State University won the men’s 6k title, clocking in at 20:29.7 to defeat Ben Berlin of Utah State who ran 20:33.3 for second place.

Utah State scored 16 points to win the men’s team title.
