NEW YORK (Oct. 16) – Great Britain’s Calli Thackery and Eritrea’s Tsegay Tuemay clinched the women’s and men’s titles, respectively, at the McKirdy Micro Marathon in New York on Saturday (14). Thackery’s performance catapulted her into the ranks of Europe’s elite marathoners on debut, while Tuemay led the men’s field with a time of 2:11:04.
Thackery completed the race in 2:22:17, tying with fellow Briton Charlotte Purdue as the third-fastest women’s marathon runner of 2023.

Her debut time also ranks her third all-time among European women, trailing only Dutch athlete Sifan Hassan, who holds a time of 2:18:33, and Great Britain’s Paula Radcliffe with 2:18:56.
In the women’s competition, American runners Savannah Berry and Makenna Myler finished second and third, clocking in at 2:29:13 and 2:31:59, respectively.
On the men’s side, Tuemay was followed by Estonia’s Tiidrek Nurme, who finished in 2:13:28. American runners Jonas Hampton, Donnie Cowart, and Alan Peterson rounded out the top five, posting times of 2:13:34, 2:13:39, and 2:14:31, respectively.
