
CHICAGO (Oct. 05) – The Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2023 is shaping up to be a historic race, with organizers touting it as “one of the deepest, most-decorated assemblies of athletes in race history.” The women’s elite field is no exception, promising an electrifying contest between some of the world’s top endurance road runners.
Defending champion Ruth Chepngetich of Kenya, who clocked an impressive 2:14:18 in last year’s race, is back to defend her title on Oct. 8. She will face stiff competition from Tadu Teshome Nare of Ethiopia, who boasts a personal best of 2:17:36, and 2021 London Marathon champion Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya, with a personal best of 2:17:43.
Adding to the intrigue is Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia, who ran 2:18:05 in Amsterdam last year, and Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, who recently clocked 2:18:33 in London to secure that impressive victory. – Read more: How to watch the 2023 Bank of America Chicago Marathon?
Not to be overlooked is American record holder Emily Sisson, who will make her return to the Chicago Marathon after finishing second last year with a personal best time of 2:18:29.

The race will be broadcast live on NBC 5 Chicago, Telemundo Chicago, and TeleXitos from 7 – 11 a.m. CST. Additionally, live streaming will be available at nbcchicago.com and telemundochicago.com, as well as on the NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago apps, from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. CST.
With such a stacked lineup, the 26.2-mile race through the Windy City promises to be a nail-biter, as each athlete vies for victory in what is sure to be a memorable showdown. Expect a thriller and even more records and personal bests at this year’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2023.
