NEW YORK — The 116th edition of the Millrose Games 2024, a pinnacle of indoor track and field, is fast approaching, with the event slated for February 11th at the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory.

This year’s lineup already boasts a host of global athletic superstars who will be using the meeting as part of their respective preparations for another long season.

Among the athletes who were on the list of early confirmed were Yared Nuguse, Josh Kerr, Danielle Williams, and Yaroslava Mahuchikh.

Nuguse, who returns to the Wanamaker Mile after a stunning victory last year, leads the track athletes confirmed thus far. The American’s previous performance was nothing short of historic, as he clocked a time of 3:47.38, breaking the U.S. record and posting the second-fastest time in world history.

Meanwhile, Josh Kerr, the reigning 1500m world champion, is also set to make waves at the Millrose Games. Kerr, who triumphed in the 3000m at last year’s event, setting both a meet and facility record, is stepping up to the two-mile distance.

With the world record of 8:03.40, held by fellow Brit Mo Farah, within reach, Kerr’s race is highly anticipated following his gold medal win in the 1500m at the 2023 World Championships.

The 60m hurdles will see Jamaican star Danielle Williams taking center stage. Williams, the gold medalist in the 100m hurdles at the 2023 World Championships, is a formidable competitor.

A two-time world champion, her presence in any hurdles race is a guarantee of top-tier performance.

Adding to the field events’ excitement, Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh will compete in the high jump.

Mahuchikh, the defending gold medalist and an Olympic bronze medalist is known for her consistent excellence in high jump competitions. She holds the national record both indoors and outdoors, making her one of the sport’s greats.

As the Millrose Games continue to finalize their athlete roster, more announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

The event, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meet, will feature a diverse array of athletes, including Olympians and world champions, across various levels, from youth to professional.
