Ackera Nugent of Arkansas in action

A strong women’s 60m hurdles open event field has been assembled for the Arkansas Razorback Invitational meeting, scheduled for Jan. 26-27 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville.

Among the featured names on the start list are Americans Lolo Jones, Tia Jones, Gabriele Cunningham, and Taliyah Brooks, as well as Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent.

Lolo Jones, a two-time World Indoor champion and two-time Olympic finalist, will aim to continue her solid start to the season when the 41-year-old from Des Moines, Iowa, takes on a field that includes some of the most promising young talents in the world.

Leading the way is Jamaican Nugent, a three-time NCAA champion, as well as the 2021 World Junior champion over the 100m hurdles. The 21-year-old, who won the open 60m the last time out, will make her debut in the hurdles and is hoping for a productive start.

Nugent comes with the fastest personal best among the starters, with a time of 7.72 seconds.

Meanwhile, the field also includes World Indoor bronze medalist Gabriele Cunningham from Charlotte, North Carolina, who is also making her season debut over the hurdles but owns a personal best of 7.82 seconds from 2022.

Tia Jones, a World Junior champion in 2018, and multi-star Taliyah Brooks from Wichita Falls, Texas, are also included in the starting list.

The women’s 60m hurdles open event is slated for 12:20 pm on Saturday, January 27.
