Abby Steiner to make season debut in 200m at USATF Bermuda Grand Prix

Sprinter Abby Steiner continues her return from surgery this weekend when the former Kentucky sprinter races in the women's 200m at the 2024 USATF Bermuda Grand Prix on Sunday.

HAMILTON, Bermuda, (April 28) – Sprinter Abby Steiner will make her season debut in the 200 meters at the 2024 USATF Bermuda Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting on Sunday.

Steiner, who has already opened her season in the 100m and 400m events, has made a full return to competition after a heel surgery last September, and the former Kentucky star will look for another quality performances in her specialty as she continues to prepare for the Olympic Games in Paris later this summer.

Steiner clocked 11.05 seconds in the 100m and 51.58 seconds in the 400m earlier this month, and the 24-year-old Puma-sponsored athlete targets something fast on Sunday against a field that is expected to challenge her.

However, at 21.77 seconds at her best, the three-time NCAA 200m champion and World Athletics Championships 5th place finisher in 2022, will certainly start as the favorite at the 2024 USATF Bermuda Grand Prix, although she is not expected to run that quickly this weekend.

Among the athletes down to challenge Steiner in the women’s 200m is her American teammate Tamari Davis, who owns a personal best of 22.30 and has already clocked 23.17 this season. The field also includes USA’s former Texas and Florida sprinter Kynnedy Flannel, who has a season best time of 23.31 and a PB of 22.23, as well as Jamaica’s Ashanti Moore and USA’s Kortnei Johnson.
