University of Florida’s Parker Valby continues her reign as a collegiate running sensation. The Tampa, Florida native added another impressive feat to her already remarkable year on Thursday night (11) at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Valby shattered the NCAA record in the 10,000 meters, crossing the finish line in a stunning 30:50.43. This dominant performance eclipsed the previous record of 31:18.07, which had stood for a staggering 14 years.

This achievement places Valby among an elite group of American women. She becomes the thirteenth in history to break the 31-minute barrier in the 10,000m.

Her time also ranks an impressive No. 11 on the American All-Time list and currently sits at No. 5 in the world for 2024.

By setting this new collegiate record, Valby automatically becomes the University of Florida’s school record holder in the event. She surpasses the previous mark of 32:24.70 set by Rebecca Lowe in 2009. Additionally, Valby holds the top spot in the NCAA for 2024.

Thornaer and Wilson Shine as Well

The success wasn’t limited to Valby on Thursday. Fellow Florida Gator runner Elise Thorner also delivered a standout performance. Thorner shattered a 12-year-old school record in the 3000m steeplechase, clocking in at an impressive 9:28.49.

This achievement, which shaved nine seconds off the previous record held by Genevieve LaCaze, also ranks as the No. 1 mark in the NCAA for 2024.

Allison Wilson joined the celebration by etching her name onto the UF All-Time Top 10 list. Wilson’s 10,000m finish of 33:34.95 makes her the fifth-fastest woman in school history for the event. This race also marked a personal best for Wilson, surpassing her previous time of 35:22.19 set at the 2021 SEC Outdoor Championships.
