London Marathon 2024 results; Peres Jepchirchir sets world record

Here are the top London Marathon 2024 results on Sunday, 21 April. Peres Jepchirchir, the Olympic champion breaks the world record in a women-only marathon race with a stunning 2:16:16.

A world record was the highlight of a very busy morning in London on Sunday (21) as Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir produced the fastest in history in a women-only marathon with a stunning 2:16:16. Here are the top 10 results from the London Marathon 2024.

With an assembled field of some of the fastest women in the world, we were expecting a fast marathon race in London, and the race didn’t disappoint as Jepchirchir powered away from a small group of athletes in the closing stages of the race on her way to a historic performance.

Tigst Assefa of Ethiopia followed Jepchirchir home at 2:16:23, while another Kenyan runner and 2021 London Marathon champion, Joyciline Jepkosgei (2:16:24) and Ethiopia’s Megertu Alemu (2:16:34) also broke the 2:17 barrier.

On the men’s side meanwhile, Kenya’s Alexander Mutiso surged away from the great Kenenisa Bekele late in the race to secure the victory with a time of 2:04:01. The Ethiopian Bekele was second at 2:04:15.
