Sha’Carri Richardson ready to bounce back in Suzhou 200m

After a shock season opener defeat, USA's Sha'Carri Richardson returns to action at the a season Wanda Diamond League meeting in Suzhou on Saturday (27).

USA’s world 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson will return to the track for a season Wanda Diamond League meeting this season when she takes on several of her American compatriots in Suzhou on Saturday (27).

Richardson, who opened her campaign with a second-place finish in the 200m at the Xiamen Diamond League meeting last weekend, will be back in action in the half-lap event and she is aiming to bounce back from the surprise defeat to Australian teenager Torrie Lewis last time out.

Lewis, who is part of the Australian team for the World Relays in the Bahamas, will not be in this weekend’s race, but Richardson is still expected to face a strong field.

Among the competitors to watch are American world 4x100m gold medalists Tamara Clark and Twanisha Terry, Britain’s Olympic and world relay medalist Daryll Neita, as well as Swiss 2019 world bronze medallist Mujinga Kambundji.

Clark is the quickest in the field so far this season at 22.21 seconds, done at the Texas Relays last month, while fellow American Anavia Battle has clocked 22.56 already this season and could also be a contender.

Meanwhile, Sha’Carri Richardson, who secured a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, will be aiming to improve on her season best of 22.99.
