Xiamen Wanda Diamond League 2024 results; world record by Mondo Duplantis

The following are the Xiamen Wanda Diamond League 2024 results as the season kicked off at the Egret Stadium in China, on Saturday, 20 April. Highlighting the day was the world record performance by Mondo Duplantis in the men’s pole vault.

Duplantis, who recently won the World Indoor title, made a statement in his outdoor season debut, clearing 6.24 meters on his first attempt to add one centimeter to his previous world record of 6.23m. The Swede will start as the overwhelming favorite to win the pole vault gold medal in about three months at the Paris Olympics 2024, but he will also be eyeing new heights before that time comes.

In other Xiamen Wanda Diamond League 2024 results this weekend, Australian teenager Torrie Lewis shocked American world 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson in the women’s 200m, Christian Coleman defeated country Fred Kerley in the men’s 100m, while Canada’s Marco Arop ran an impressive early season 1:43.61 to win the men’s 800m.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia won the women’s 1500m with 3:50.30, while world record-holder Beatrice Chepkoech of Kenya dominated in the women’s 3000m steeplechase with a powerhouse 8:55.40, Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico took the women’s 100m hurdles in 12.45 secs.
