Great Britain will start as the team to beat, entering the competition well below their national record of 41.55 seconds. The Netherlands will also field a strong team and could challenge their European rivals for one of the two qualifying spots to the final. Expect the Bahamas to be extra motivated in front of their home supporters, alongside fellow Caribbean representatives, Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba.

Meanwhile, heat one will feature the reigning world champion USA against a spirited Nigerian team, also hoping to secure a place in the championship race. This heat also includes France, Switzerland, and Brazil, who are all capable of surprising the more favored countries if they slip up.

Elsewhere, Olympic champion Jamaica, albeit without several of the nation’s top sprinters, will start from heat two and face Poland and Canada, while heat three will feature Ivory Coast, Germany, and Australia.
