Natalie Dumas Opens 800m Indoor Season with Nation-Leading 2:07.73

NEW YORK (27 December) — Eastern Regional High School senior Natalie Dumas dominated the girls’ 800 meters invitational at the 2025 U.S. Marine Corps Holiday Classic 2025 at The Armory, clocking a nation-leading time of 2:07.73 to open her indoor season in the event.

Dumas, who made history last year by winning a rare triple at outdoor championships with victories in the 400 meters (51.14), 800 meters (2:01.1), and 400-meter hurdles (55.99), controlled the race from start to finish. After forging ahead of the pack at the 200m mark at 31.57 seconds, she passed the 400m in 1:02.23 and maintained her commanding lead through the bell lap.

Union Catholic freshman Abigail Rabiski moved into second place during the final lap and held on for the runner-up spot, but Dumas was never challenged as she surged down the homestretch. The victory improved on this year’s previous national-best time of 2:11.73 by Anna Bogius and also bettered the 2:07 oversized track performance recorded earlier this season.

“I mean, it’s so different. I mean, I ran 800. This is my first one this season. So, I was really just trying to come out here and see what I could do,” Dumas said after the race.

When asked about her expectations following last year’s historic triple, Dumas expressed enthusiasm about expanding her race schedule. “I mean, I’m so excited to start doing more in these meets. It’s really just been one event recently, so I’m excited to start doing multiple,” she said.

Abigail Robisky and her teammate, Sophia Thompson, both dipped under 2:12 and finished second and third, respectively. Robisky posted 2:11.37, while Thompson finished close behind with 2:11.48. The top five finishers were rounded out by Marella Virmani of River Hill-MD in fourth place with 2:13.57 and Amaris Pope of Elizabeth Seton-MD with 2:13.63.

Natalie Dumas is a heavily recruited senior who is considering several top collegiate programs, including Arkansas, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Miami, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. She had previously opened her season with a comfortable 5:10 mile on December 22.
