World Champion Jessica Schilder Returns to Meeting de l’Eure Seeking Second Straight Victory

Dutch shot put star Jessica Schilder will compete at the 2026 Meeting de l’Eure on February 1, returning to the same venue where she launched her 2024 season with a winning throw of 19.85 meters.

The 26-year-old enters the World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver event at Stade couvert Jesse Owens ranked second globally in women’s shot put with 1,465 points, according to World Athletics data. Schilder captured the European indoor title in March on home soil in Apeldoorn, setting a Dutch record of 20.69 meters, then added a silver medal at the World Indoor Championships on March 21. She recorded four wins from seven finals during her impressive 2025 indoor campaign.

Schilder’s championship performance also extended to the outdoor campaign after she claimed gold at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, sealing victory with her sixth and final throw after training the likes of Chase Jackson of the USA, Maddison-Lee Wesche of New Zealand, and Canadian Sarah Mitton, entering the final round.

Schilder’s consistency saw her produce three of her best-ever performances in 2025 for both indoor and outdoor. Beyond her 20.69-meter indoor record in Apeldoorn, she also threw 20.47 meters in Xiamen on April 26 and 20.39 meters in Monaco on July 11 during the outdoor campaign.

The Val-de-Reuil meeting will feature a full program of track and field events. Men will compete in the 400 meters, 800 meters, mile, and 60-meter hurdles. The women’s schedule includes the 800 meters, mile, 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, triple jump, and shot put.

Fans unable to attend in person can watch the competition through a live stream broadcast, making the event accessible to athletics supporters worldwide.
