Alex Maier Top American Finisher: Aramco Houston Half Marathon U.S. Men’s Results

Alex Maier ran a personal best of 59:23 to finish sixth overall and lead five American runners in the top 10 at the Aramco Houston Half Marathon on Sunday morning (11).

The former Oklahoma State athlete from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, shaved more than a minute off his previous lifetime best of 1:00:48, showing great improvement from his ninth-place finish at the same race in 2025.

Eritrea’s Habtom Samuel won the race in 59:01, followed by Kenya’s Patrick Kiprop in 59:19 and Morocco’s Mohammed El Youssfi in 59:21. Ideal running conditions helped runners achieve fast times throughout the field.

Casey Clinger of Provo, Utah, made an impressive half marathon debut with a time of 59:34, finishing seventh overall and second among American runners. Ryan Ford from Longmont, Colorado, also achieved a personal best by breaking the 60-minute barrier with his 59:48 performance for eighth place overall.

Isai Rodriguez of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, clocked 59:57 for ninth place, while Hillary Bor from Colorado Springs, Colorado, rounded out the top 10 in 1:00:04. Both runners represented the strong depth of American distance running on display in Houston.

Four-time Olympian Galen Rupp, a two-time Olympic medalist with 12 U.S. titles to his name, finished 27th overall in 1:02:01. He was the 13th American to cross the finish line.
