Bacari Returns to Luxembourg With Big Goals at 2026 CMCM Indoor Meeting

Elie Bacari returns to his breakthrough venue, while Victoria Rausch aims to defend national pride at the 2026 CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting.

Belgian national record holder Elie Bacari will return to Luxembourg later this month to compete in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2026 CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting, the same meet where he ran his personal best last year. This year’s meeting, a World Athletics Indoor Silver Tour meet at Coque Sport Center, will take place on January 18, 2026.

The 22-year-old hurdler clocked 7.51 seconds at the 2025 meeting, his fastest time ever in the short hurdles race, which is run over 60 meters indoors. He won his heat in 7.51 but finished second in the final with 7.55, behind Poland’s Jakub Szymański, who set a national record with 7.41.

Bacari said the meet holds special meaning for him because it helped launch his career on the international stage.

“It was my first international meeting, the only one that allowed me to race even when I hadn’t yet performed at a high level,” Bacari said. “The CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting will always be special to me because it allowed me to start my Olympic journey. I will try to run at this meeting every year.”

Last season, Bacari ran three of his five fastest 60m hurdles times at or below 7.55. He posted 7.51 twice, including in Luxembourg and later in Apeldoorn, and added strong runs of 7.55 and 7.59 at another meet in Gent.

He has already shown good early form in 2026. Bacari opened his indoor season with a personal best of 6.77 seconds in the 60-meter dash at the VS Indoor Meeting in Gent on Jan. 10, a sign of improved flat speed heading into the hurdles races.

On the women’s side, home favorite Victoria Rausch will headline the 60m hurdles for Luxembourg.

Rausch finished her outdoor season in strong form with a national record in the 100m hurdles and has carried that momentum indoors. She recently set a new personal best over 60 meters with 7.54 seconds, and will be chasing her indoor national record of 8.16 seconds, which she set at the 2024 CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting.

The 29-year-old’s second-best time this season stands at 8.21, putting her within striking distance of another national mark in front of the home crowd.
