Dr. Sander Scorcher Invitational elite-pro results; Cooper Lutkenhaus runs aJR

NEW YORK (Jan 25) – American high school sensation Cooper Lutkenhaus stole the show at the Dr. Sander Invitational on Saturday, smashing the U.S. under-20 indoor 800m record with a 1:45.23 victory in his professional debut at the Armory Track and Field Center. The 17-year-old phenom finished nearly two seconds ahead of runner-up Shane Cohen (United States), eclipsing Donovan Brazier’s previous mark of 1:45.93 while logging the fastest indoor time ever by a high schooler.

Oregon and Sweden’s Wilma Nielsen added to the highlights, winning the women’s mile with a time of 4:26.74, as U.S. athletes Meghan Hunter won the women’s 800m with a time of 1:59.70.
