OSTRAVA, Czech Republic, (Jan 21) – Sprinter Karolina Manasova broke her own Czech Republic indoor 60 metres record with a blistering 7.05 seconds on Tuesday at the Ostrava Indoor I meeting, marking the fastest time in the world so far this year. This time bettered the previous world lead of 7.13 secs, set by USA’s Jaslyn Gardner in December.
The 22-year-old Manasova, last year’s European under-23 100m champion, returned to action for the first time since the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo and she showed impressive form in her first race after a positive winter training cycle. Manasova had clocked 7.23 in the heats before lowering her previous national record of 7.10, set at the European Indoors in Apeldoorn in 2025.

“I think I had a pretty good start to the season,” Manasova told Atletika.cz. “After the heat, my coach and I said I could take about a tenth of a second off. The biggest progress came in the middle phase of the race — that’s what we worked on most.”
Manasova, a five-time Czech Republic national champion, enjoyed a strong 2025 indoor campaign in which she ran eight of her ten fastest 60m times.
Czech Republic’s Natálie Kožuškaničová finished second in 7.49, followed by Poland’s Julia Polak in 7.57 and Czech athlete Magdalena Pavlíková in 7.59. Slovakia’s Daniela Ledecká won the women’s 200m in 23.55, with Johanka Šafářová taking the 400m in 53.59 and Sophia Zápotočná winning the 800m in 2:07.44.
