World and Olympic 100m silver medalist Kishane Thompson of Jamaica will make a rare indoor appearance when he faces world indoor champion Jeremiah Azu at the BAUHAUS Indoor-Galan in Stockholm on January 22.
The 24-year-old Jamaican aims to prove his speed translates indoors against one of the world’s best 60m runners.
Thompson won silver medals at both the 2024 Olympics and 2025 World Championships in the 100m. He ranks as the sixth fastest 100m sprinter in history with a lifetime best of 9.75 seconds. The Jamaican speedster has only raced indoors once in his career but possesses a 60m best of 6.48 seconds set outdoors in 2025.

“It will undoubtedly be one of the hottest duels this indoor season,” says Jan Kowalski, event manager. “We are very proud to bring such a big name as Kishane Thompson here in the tremendous form he is in right now. You don’t want to miss that.”
During his 2025 indoor campaign in Astana, Thompson clocked 6.58 and 6.56 seconds in his limited indoor racing experience.
Thompson’s biggest challenge comes from Azu, the 24-year-old British sprinter who claimed gold in the 60m at the 2025 World Indoor Championships. Azu recorded a personal best of 6.49 seconds in Apeldoorn and also won European indoor gold last year. The Cardiff athlete earned Olympic bronze as part of Great Britain’s 4x100m relay team in 2024.
Azu enters the competition on a four-race winning streak in 60m finals and has run under 6.60 seconds seventeen times in his career.
The race will also feature 2024 European 100m bronze medalist Romell Glave from Great Britain. Slovakia’s Jan Volko and Italy’s Samuele Ceccarelli, European indoor champions from 2019 and 2023 respectively, complete the world-class field.
Henrik Larsson, who won silver behind Azu at the 2025 European Indoor Championships, has withdrawn due to injury.
The BAUHAUS Indoor-Galan, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting, will be streamed live on the European Athletics website.
