Home favorite Kitty Friele Faye won the women’s senior pole vault competition at the Fana stavhoppgalla, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Challenger meeting in Fana Arena in Bergen, Norway, on Saturday, 3 January.
The European U23 bronze medalist won the competition on countback, after finishing the contest with the same clearance of 4.40 meters as Hanga Klekner, the 11-time Hungarian national champion and leading entrant coming into the competition this weekend.
Faye, who was the event winner from last year, entered this year’s competition with the bar sitting at 4.00m. The World University Games silver medalist took one attempt to clear that height but required all three chances to go over 4.20m. She then skipped the next two heights at 4.30m and 4.35m.

Both jumpers required three attempts to clear 4.40m before missing all three chances at 4.50m.
Kajsa Roth of Sweden finished third with a clearance of 4.30m. The two-time, back-to-back Swedish national champion outdoors and the national indoor champion in 2025 had three attempts at 4.40m, which is her current personal best, but missed all attempts at that height.
William Asker led a podium sweep of Swedish athletes in the men’s event, after clearing 5.60 meters to secure the title in the 13-contestant event.
The 21-year-old entered the competition at 5.00m, where he needed two attempts to clear the height. He then went over 5.20m and 5.30m, respectively, on his first attempts before clearing his winning mark on the third try.
His countrymen Kristoffer Eneman and Viktor Rahm, both cleared 5.10m to finish second and third, respectively. Lucas Gjesdal was the first Norwegian competitor on the list, finishing fourth with a mark of 5.00m.
