Results – New Balance Indoor Grand Prix: World Records by Josh Hoey and Hobbs Kessler

BOSTON (Jan 24) — Two world records fell at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on Saturday as Americans Josh Hoey and Hobbs Kessler produced headline performances at The Track at New Balance. The meeting was the first World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold event this season. Complete New Balance Indoor Grand Prix results below.

Hoey stormed to victory in the men’s 800 metres with a stunning time of 1:42.50, breaking the 28-year-old indoor world record of 1:42.67 set by Wilson Kipketer at the World Indoor Championships in Paris in 1997. Earlier at the meeting, Kessler brought the crowd to its feet with a world record 4:48.79 in the men’s 2000 metres, powering away from compatriot Grant Fisher.

Elsewhere, Australia’s Cameron Myers won the men’s 3000m in a world-leading and national record 7:27.57, while Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake narrowly took the 60m in 6.53. In the women’s lineup, Dorcus Ewoi of Kenya claimed the 1500m in 4:01.22, Roisin Willis of the U.S. won the 800m in 1:59.59, and Elle St. Pierre took the 3000m in 8:26.54.

Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith sprinted to the women’s 60m title in 7.08, and world champion Danielle Williams of Jamaica captured the 60m hurdles in 7.87.
