Kenya’s five-time world cross-country champion Paul Tergat, who battled several world-class opponents, including Ethiopian legend Haile Gebrselassie, believes friendly rivalry is always healthy for the sport and shared his thoughts on being part of it.
“Sport is an opportunity to bring people together, for generations,” Tergat said at Friday’s press conference. “I’m very proud that I have been part of the sport for many years, and I’m still able to see what the sport has given to the newer generations like these guys who are competing tomorrow.”
