FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Tennessee junior Davonte Howell will compete in both the 200-meter and 300-meter sprints at the Arkansas Invitational on Friday, January 16, 2026, after posting a world-leading 60-meter time last weekend.
The Cayman Islands sprinter clocked 6.49 seconds to win the 60m dash and set a national record at the Clemson Invitational on January 10. Howell now sets his sights on two additional indoor national records in Arkansas.

The 20-year-old will make his competitive indoor debut in the 300m when he races in section five on Friday. Howell faces teammate Traunard Folson, who also ran 6.49 seconds in the 60m final at Clemson last weekend. Arkansas representatives Zyaire Nuriddin and Jordan Pierre complete the heat.
Tennessee’s T’Mars McCallum will compete in the 300m after opening his season with a 6.59-second performance in the 60m. Vols teammate Saad Hinti, who recorded a personal best of 32.46 seconds at Clemson last weekend, races against McCallum in the sixth and final section of the event.
Howell will start from heat 14 of the 200m, where he faces McCallum. The Tennessee sprinter targets his 21.36-second national record, which he set in 2025 at Clemson.
Athletes from Arkansas, Tennessee, Iowa, Stephen F. Austin, Oral Roberts, North Texas, Central Arkansas, UT Arlington, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Louisiana Tech will participate in the meet. Live results and updates are available through Flashresults.
