The complete top 20 Chevron Houston Marathon results from the World Athletics Gold Label road race on Sunday (11). USA’s Zouhair Talbi and Great Britain’s Calli Hauger-Thackery delivered strong performances to secure the women’s and men’s crowns.

After running with a group of about seven athletes in the early goings, Talbi picked up the pace late in the race and pulled away from his opponents to win the men’s race with a personal best time of 2:05:45.

“This is a special moment for me. This is a country that gives me a lot of opportunity as a citizen and it was great to represent America in the big city. Today was my first time winning a race and carrying the flag and it felt like such a special moment,” said Talbi.

Adane Gebre of Ethiopia finished second in 2:06:16, while Kenya’s Shadrack Kimining rounded out the podium in 2:07:35 after staying in the lead pack through much of the second half.

Meanwhile, Calli Hauger-Thackery, who won the Honolulu Marathon just four weeks ago, posted a time of 2:24:17 to finish more than two minutes ahead of the USA’s veteran Sara Hall, who was second with 2:26:26, followed by Biruktayit Degefa of the United States in third at 2:28:07. Ethiopia’s Tejinesh Tulu and Canada’s Erin Mawhinney completed the top five.

“I don’t recommend doing two marathons in a month-span! Today I underestimated how hard it was going to be,” Hauger-Thackery said with a laugh. “I just had to grind it out and just move forward. I was like ‘Forward momentum, don’t look back, you’re committed now, there’s nothing you can do.’ Just get to the finish and hopefully get the job done and get the win!”
