SPOKANE, Wash. (Feb 17) – Western Washington University claimed both men’s and women’s titles at the 2026 Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Tuesday, completing a team sweep for the third consecutive year at The Podium.
The Vikings, two-time defending champions entering the meet, delivered another dominant all-around performance across the two-day event, scoring heavily in field, mid-distance, and distance events to retain both crowns.
In the men’s competition, Western Washington captured the team title with 191 points, outperforming their projected total of 171.5. Central Washington finished runner-up with 102.5 points, and Simon Fraser placed third with 92.5. Western Oregon ended fourth with 79, while Northwest Nazarene rounded out the top five on 62 points.
Since winning its first men’s team title in 2013, Western Washington has now won seven GNAC Indoor Championships team crowns, the most by current GNAC members, according to USTFCCCA InfoZone.
In the women’s division, the Vikings sealed the championship with 163 points, edging Central Washington, which scored 152, and Simon Fraser in third with 135. Alaska Anchorage placed fourth with 66, followed by Western Oregon in fifth on 46 points. Western Washington was winning its third women’s title in program history.
The titles extended Western Washington’s dominance in GNAC indoor track, marking their third consecutive sweep after similar triumphs in 2024 and 2025.
“Dating back to the 2023 outdoor championships, Western has won the last 18 team titles in indoor and outdoor track & field and cross country,” the Vikings said on the school’s website.
